That's the product. A quiet Tuesday. Backing out of the driveway without doing math in your head. The rain on the roof sounding like rain and not like a deductible.

State Farm understood that a long time ago and put it in one line the whole country can still hum. Like a good neighbor. Not like a good corporation. Not like a good premium. A neighbor. Someone close enough to knock on the door for a cup of sugar, and close enough to pick up the phone at eleven at night.

There is no Jake at this office. I checked. What there is, is Matthew Sand, and he does the unglamorous work the commercials skip. He looked at what I was actually paying, bundled the home and the auto, and yes, even a golf cart, because at a certain point the cart stops being a toy and starts being a vehicle, a liability, and one more thing you would rather not think about.

So I don't. That is the entire review.

And when something unforeseen happens, and eventually something always does, Matthew is there for it. Not a queue. Not a chatbot. Not a claim number. A guy who answers, and stays on the line until it's handled.
